At exfil: Used up when you exfil with it: the weapon unlocks in the Gunsmith automatically and you get 5,000 DMZ Cash. Looted Recipes work the same way.
Gunsmith access: Activision's FOB guide (9 Oct) says you must extract a gun's Weapon Manual before you can buy that gun at the Gunsmith. Its 19 Oct launch post says any weapon or attachment you've unlocked or levelled in Multiplayer or DMZ can be bought there for DMZ Cash. The two official posts disagree; we'll update this once it's settled in game
Without a manual: A gun you extract with can still be upgraded at the Gunsmith as a one-off. Lose it in a deployment and that weapon type stays locked
Rarer guns: Activision says the better and rarer guns come from downed player Operators and slain Lieutenants. If a Lieutenant doesn't drop their weapon, look for a key to their loot room, where it usually is
Where found: Safes and military crates (Infinity Ward AMA, per the community recap)
