How DMZ works

Hostiles Kill Count and Hunt Squads

A HUD meter counts the AI you kill. Fill it and a Hunt Squad marks you for death.

Quick answers

What triggers a Hunt Squad?
Filling the Hostiles Kill Count meter by killing AI in one deployment.

The Hostiles Kill Count is a meter on your HUD that tracks how many AI enemies you have killed in the current deployment.

What happens when it fills

The enemy sends a Hunt Squad after you, and you become Marked for Death. The Hunt Squad tracks you down, so you cannot just wait it out in a building.

How it differs from threat level

  • Threat level belongs to the area you are in. It rises while you fight and drops once you break contact.
  • The kill count belongs to you and only goes up during the deployment.

Tips

  • Solo players and lightly geared squads should leave before the meter fills.
  • Avoid killing AI you do not need to. Sneaking past saves the meter.
  • If you are Marked for Death, head to an exfil you can defend.

The exact number of kills needed has not been published. See threat levels.
