“Dog Tag” means two different things in DMZ.
1. Your Operator’s Dog Tag rank
Each Operator has a Dog Tag that shows their rank, from Steel I to Onyx III. There are 18 ranks and each one gives a Trait Point. The Dog Tag also shows the Operator’s bounty status and how many enemy Operators they have killed.
This rank is separate from your account’s DMZ level. See Operators and MIA.
2. Dog Tags as trophies
When an Operator dies, the player who killed them can take their Dog Tag.
- Dog Tags pay out only once you extract with them.
- Extracting a Wanted player’s Dog Tag claims part of their bounty and clears it. See bounties.
- If your tag is taken, it comes back when you recover your Operator from MIA.
- The Dog Tag Case station at the FOB (DMZ level 20) keeps your trophies, and upgrading it raises bounty payouts.
Lieutenant Dog Tag Cases
Lieutenants drop a Dog Tag Case rather than a plain tag. Picking one up broadcasts your position. See the Lieutenant Dog Tag Case.
